Material:     metal bag fastening from Prym Consumer : LORENA (ref. 615170)  width 3,15”  / Fabric: rectangle 8,5” / 12,5” for outside fabric   & rectangle little longer(add 2x seam)  for lining, cut in two.  

Fournitures:    fermoir métallique  LORENA de Prym Consumer  (ref.615170)  largeur 8 cm / Tissu : rectangle de 21,5cm sur 32cm pour l’extérieur & rectangle un peu plus long (ajouter 2x ourlet) pour la doublure, coupé en deux.

Mark three points for the central pleat in the middle of both short sides of the outside fabric, and on one of the short sides of the lining. Mine is about 1”. Pin in place with the fold inside.

Marquez trois points pour faire le pli central au milieu des deux côtés court du tissu extérieur, ainsi que sur un des deux côtés courts de la doublure. J’ai pris le milieu plus 2,5 cm. Épinglez avec le pli à l’intérieur.

Place fabrics with good sides together and sew short pleated edge.

Positionnez vos tissus, bons côtés ensemble, et cousez ce côté plié des rectangles.

Put the fastening onto each side where you made a pleat,  and design the curve, on exterior of fastening to have seam added. Sew on this line.

Placez le fermoir et tracez une ligne à l’extérieur pour avoir la courbe. Cousez sur cette ligne.

Mark now the middle of your fabric (bottom of purse). Fold and sew a little triangle to have rounded base on your purse. Cut these little triangles.

Marquez maintenant le milieu des deux côtés longs du tissu extérieur; pliez en deux et dessinez un coin de chaque côté. Coupez.

Fold now like on picture, good sides of fabric and lining together and sew from bottom outside fabric (triangle) to long sides to bottom lining, leave a gap (for turning inside out) and go on at other side.

Pliez le tissu extérieur en deux, voyez sur la photo, avec bons côtés de tissu et doublure ensemble et cousez à partir de la base (triangle découpé) le long du côté jusqu’à la base de la doublure. Laissez une ouverture (pour tourner) et continuer de l’autre côté.

Now turn inside out and verify if the bottom is ok. I personally found it to sharp and sew my corner a little further to have a more rounded base. Do as you wish.

En la retournant intérieur-extérieur, j’ai trouvé que personnellement la base était trop pointue et j’ai donc reculé la couture de mon petit triangle pour avoir une base plus ronde. Faites comme vous voulez.

Close now with some invisible stitches, the base of your lining.

Cousez la base de votre doublure pour fermer votre fond.

You might notice that the upper edge is not exactly the curve of your fastening. Don’t bother. As long as the circumference of the opening fits in the fastening, it’s ok. And it’s better to have some remnant J

Si vous remarquez que la courbe de votre porte-monnaie ne correspond pas exactement à la courbe de votre fermoir, pas de panique. Le plus important est que le périmètre de l’ouverture est égale ou un rien plus grande que le fermoir ouvert.

Push the top of your purse into the gap of your fastening. Pin with safety pins the center and the corners of one side. Start sewing in the middle, go to hinge and sew back to middle to other hinge and back to middle/ You’ll have two stitches and your purse will be well fixed. Work identical on other side. Take a contrasting color of thread to fix, or take a invisible nylon … do as you wish! Take solid yarn (quilting, perlé cotton) that won’t break when pulling it through fabric and holes.

Calez le bord supérieur de votre porte-monnaie dans la fente du fermoir. Mettez une épingle de sûreté au milieu et aux coins du fermoir. Commencez par un côté. Cousez du milieu vers une charnière, revenez vers le milieu vers l’autre charnière pour finir au milieu. C’et plus facile et vous êtes certain d’avoir le centre au milieu, et vous avez une double couture solide pour que votre porte-monnaie ne lâchera pas. Prenez un fil solide, type cordonnet, coton perlé, ou un fil nylon transparent. Tout dépend de votre gout personnel, et que vous aimez voir la couture ou non.

Add some decorations, buttons, beads, yoyo’s, or nothing at all… I took some big buttons, made me thinking on sweet candy, coordinated with my fabric.

Au choix, ajoutez breloques ou boutons. J’ai ouvert un de mes bocaux de boutons de récup, et j’en ai sorti quatre, deux sur deux en les superposant. Ils me font penser à des bonbons ce qui convient tout à fait à mon tissu.

This pattern is convenient for all kind of metallic closures/fastenings. It’s round, puffy, and you can put a lot inside. Just adapt your width (with pleat) on the width of the closure and verify that the fastening open must be equal or slightly smaller than your purse-pouch to insert. The height of your initial rectangle will be twice height you desire, plus seams.

Ce patron convient pour tous les modèles de fermoirs métalliques. C’est une petite bourse ronde, gonflé et vous pourriez y caser bien des trésors. Adaptez la taille en largeur selon le fermoir (ajoutez les plis !) et vérifiez que le périmètre de votre bourse soit égale ou un rien plus large que l’ouverture de votre fermoir. La hauteur est le double de ce que vous désirez (plus les ourlets bien sûr.
